The Legendary Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is coming to Cincinnati, Ohio on October 30, 2013 at Music Hall for one night from 7pm to 10pm. The event will be and concert and dance in Music Hall’s Ballroom. The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is currently touring the U.S. bring back the Big Band sound throughout the country.
This concert is being hosted by WMKV 89.3 and WLHS 89.9 radio. These stations genre include the big band sounds, classic radio shows and talk focused mainly at seniors and families. WMKV Development Director Bob Hanneken said, “ Our goal is to preserve big band music and if this has a good audience there are some other big bands we would love to bring in”. Some concerts that were mentioned as possible venues that WMKV might seek include The Duke Ellington and Count Basie Orchestras. WMKV and WLHS have in the past presented national touring orchestras, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and Harry James. WMKV’s Station Director George Zhan in satisfaction about Music Hall hosting this event “This has been a great home for so many music events over the years, it’s a natural fit,”.
