I recently caught up with Philly music legend Tommy Conwell. He and his band the Young Rumblers will be reuniting on May 10th for their 30th anniversary at the Ardmore Music Hall which was formerly called the 23 East.

Conwell said this show is special for them in a number of ways including the fact that it was right here where it all started back in 1984. In fact, the video for their #1 hit “I’m not your man” was filmed there before a live audience of mostly adoring young women.

I asked Conwell what some of the biggest moments were for him and his band. “I think playing the American Music Awards was big since it was in front of a live national audience. Also opening for Bryan Adams at the Spectrum or David Bowie at the Vet stand out too.”

Conwell said he remembers his first gig which was opening for the Hooters 30 years ago in 1984.

Both Tommy Conwell and the Hooters are of course synonymous with the Philly music scene in the 1980’s.

Tommy Conwell & his band were also featured in Rolling Stone magazine, performed on Late Night with David Letterman, as well as the Arsenio Hall Show.

Dynagroove is the opening act on May 10th and it's sure to be a night of great live music you won’t want to miss.
