Three top NCAA Division I head wrestling coaches – and the first American woman to win a silver medal in Olympic wrestling – are among the guests for Takedown Wrestling Saturday, May 25, the show announced Wednesday.
Join hosts Scott Casber, Steve Foster, Jeff Murphy, Brad Johnson, and Terry Cook this Saturday 9:00-11:00 a.m. Central and 10 a.m.-noon Eastern.
The first hour opens with Tom Ryan, head coach at Ohio State, who just completed his seventh season at the helm of the Buckeye wrestling program. At 9:20, 2004 Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann takes to the mic, to talk about wrestling and her burgeoning career in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships)… followed by T.C. Lewis, who will discuss how wrestling is very much an inclusionary sport, welcoming to individuals big and small, male and female, and different physical abilities.
In hour two, Appalachian State head coach JohnMark Bentley will talk about his successful recruiting efforts, followed by Barry Davis, long-time head coach at University of Wisconsin, which will host the 2014 Big Ten wrestling championships. At 10:40, Coyte Cooper, former Indiana University wrestler and assistant coach who is now focused on helping college wrestling programs successfully market themselves, will discuss the upcoming National Wrestling Coaches Association/Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Academy Workshop, designed for coaches who are currently at or who wish to pursue positions at faith-based schools.
