Today Feb. 17, 2013 Tom Martell took first place at "Magic: The Gathering" Pro Tour "Gatecrash. "I got very lucky to be honest," remarked Larsson about his first match against Melissa DeTora's Wolf Run Bant deck in the quarter-finals during the Twitch live stream of the event.
Martell went on to defeat Eric Froehlich's Naya deck in the semi-finals and then Joel Larsson playing a blue-white-red deck in the finals. He'll be bringing home bragging rights, a trophy, and a $40,000 check.

The deck can have an explosive start thanks to Champion of the Parish. With so many powerful human creatures in the deck, such as Knight of Infamy or Silverblade Paladin, there's plenty of ways to pump both Champion of the Parish and Falkenrath Aristocrat. If all else fails, it can steal permanents from opponents with Zealous Conscripts (and feed them to Falkenrath Aristocrat).
