Lose one great actor, but gain another?
Given what Collider is reporting today I think director Guillermo del Toro ("Pacific Rim") is feeling alright with the man replacing Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock"): Tom Hiddleston ("The Avengers").
The self-described classical Gothic romance ghost story will have Hiddleston teaming up with Jessica Chastain (del Toro produced "Mama") as aristocratic siblings, and del Toro said the film is "very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Also starring Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") and Charlie Hunnam ("Pacific Rim") the R-rated film should hit theaters in the first quarter of 2015.
I was worried with Emma Stone and Benedict Cumberbatch leaving production, but with the Hiddle on board I am confident this will be a terrific film.
