On Oct. 23 it was announced that English actor Tom Hardy will be portraying English singer-songwriter and pianist Elton John in the upcoming biopic, "Rocketman". The film will not begin shooting until the fall of 2014 and it will be released in the U.S. via Focus Features.
The iconic musician Elton John will act as the executive producer of the biopic. The original screenplay will be written by Lee Hall, who also wrote the screenplays for "Billy Elliot," "Pride and Prejudice," and "War Horse". Actor Tom Hardy has had roles in such films as "Inception," "This Means War," and "The Dark Knight Rises".
The title of the film is derived from Elton John's 1972 single "Rocket Man (I Think It's Going to Be a Long, Long Time)". The song was originally featured on his album "Honky Château" and it went on to reach No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
