Diabetes runs rampant in Hollywood as Tom Hanks is the latest star to reveal that he suffers from the disease. The actor recently told David Letterman that he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes during a visit to the doctor.
"I went to the doctor, and he said, 'You know those high blood sugar numbers you've been dealing with since you were 36? Well, you've graduated! You've got Type 2 diabetes, young man," said Hanks. The star further explained, "It's controllable. Something's going to kill us all, Dave."
Halle Berry and David Letterman himself are two of many stars who have battled with high blood sugar for the past few years and follow special diets that call for lots of fruits and vegetables. Nearly 10% of the United States population suffers from either Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. Once more, around 79 million people are living on the verge of being diagnosed.
Tom Hanks is 57-years-old.
