Tom Cruise had two routes in life that he was pursuing: acting and spirituality. He at one time even considered becoming a priest, but his acting career blasted into outer space and he found religion in Scientology. Mimi Rogers, his first wife, was credited with introducing him to the religion and once involved his relationship choices were managed within the church. According to a report that was published in the New York Post Jan. 13, 2013 a new book titled "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood & The Prison of Belief" written by Lawrence Wright will detail some interesting tidbits about the religion and how Tom Cruise is number three in the church and he believes he has been selected to "vanquish" aliens on planet earth.
The article gives only a small taste of what is expected to be within the pages of this new book which most believe will be a best seller. The article details Cruise's rise within the church and how involved the church was alledgedly involved in his relationships. The divorce to Mimi Rogers was done quickly and the relationship with Cruise and Nicole Kidman was helped along by the church. The church was also very involved in finding Tom Cruise's third wife Katie Holmes according to the report.
It describes his fast rise in the church and even details what the true reason for the church's existence on the planet. Scientology lore states that Thetans (the alien life forms that inhabit human beings) have destroyed the planet multiple times before and "the ultimate aim of the religion is to reclaim Earth and rescue humankind" according to the New York Post article.
Cruise believes his true aim in life is to convert all nonbelievers into the church, which, according to Scientology, will result in Earth’s salvation. “Look,” he said, “I wish the world was a different place. I’d like to go on vacation, and go and romp and play, you know what I mean? But I can’t. Because I know. I know. I have to do something about it. You can sit here and wish it was different, but there’s that moment where you go, ‘You know, I have to do something. Don’t I?’ ” directly quoted from the article here.
