Tom Cruise news about alien cathedral overshadows 'Jack Reacher' (Video)

Celeb gossip report! On Jan. 2, 2013, entertainment news sources began to report that Tom Cruise's ego overshadowed his character in his new movie "Jack Reacher." The famous Scientologist (who recently split from his wife Katie Holmes) has found himself smack in the middle of a media storm, one that has nearly eclipsed the hype of his new film. Have you heard the rumor mill report yet that he paid to build an alien cathedral?

Ignoring the silly celeb gossip reports about the actor's eccentric ways and fascination with space aliens, the Star Gazette reported on his new movie. They say that to them "Jack Reacher" -- a film adaptation based on Lee Child's 2005 novel "One Shot" -- seems to fall pretty much within the expectation level of a Tom Cruise movie. It is exciting, action packed, and full of dynamic scenes that spotlight the actor.

Reacher is a drifter, who lives off the grid, always using cash, doesn't own credit cards and is unable to be found, unless he wants to be found. Reacher is a former United States Army Military Police major. When asked what the difference was between military police and regular police, Reacher responds that they are about the same, except every suspect is a trained killer.

As Reacher begins his quest to bury Barr he begins to discover mounting evidence that convinces him that Barr may not be as guilty as Reacher initially suspected. This cat and mouse escapade takes him to a gun range where Reacher can show off his mad sniper shooting skills in a hilarious scene with Robert Duvall, who plays former Marine Gunnery Sgt. Cash.

But despite the intriguing storyline and star-studded cast, Cruise's own celeb gossip scandals seems to keep fans searching online for news about his name longer than they are interested in seeing his latest movies.

The actor actually filed a $50M lawsuit against several media tabloids for running stories that he has abandoned his young daughter Suri. Denying the claims, his lawsuit has been successful at quieting rumor mill reports about his particular style of parenting.

However, he has failed to address new claims that he's personally funded the construction of an "alien church" -- a space cathedral building that is supposed to attract extraterrestrial visitors. As a Scientology believer, he's been under attack by tabloids and celeb gossip sources for believing such things as alien visitors from other galaxies really do exist -- even if common sense does dictate that humans might not be the only intelligent life in the universe.

Perhaps he thinks he can attract more fans from outer space than he can via selling tickets in movie theaters? Whatever the case, fans are talking far more about him than they ever are expected to make small talk about his stellar performance in "Jack Reacher."

Strange news, indeed. That's Hollywood culture for you.
