Warner Bros. execs are banking on Cruise to replace George Clooney as the leading man in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” in their latest attempt to revive the perennially stalled reboot of the classic 1960s TV series.
It has been rumored that Cruise is in preliminary talks with the studio to join this project. This exciting cult series ran from 1964 to 1968 and starred Robert Vaughn as Napolean Solo, which is the role that Cruise would assume. In this hot action series, Solo and his partner, Illya Kuryakin, are featured fighting an evil agency known as Thrush. Clooney dropped out of the role due to a back injury in 2011 which left him not able to keep up with the film's demands.
