Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split over the Church of Scientology?

Are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorcing over The Church of Scientology? Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise in the state of New York, not California. Could that be because New York’s laws are friendlier towards the mother in child custody cases? That she may be more likely to get full custody of their daughter Suri there? Why does she want full custody? Many believe it’s because of her husband’s involvement in the Church of Scientology. Suri is now of the age that children get more involved in the church.

Tom made it clear on Oprah’s couch he loved Katie but not long afterwards on the Today show he also made it clear how much he believed in the teachings of the Church of Scientology, to the point of becoming a bit preachy and arrogant.

Cruise: "Matt, you're glib ... you don't even know what Ritalin is."
Lauer: "Well, it's really impressive listening to you ... It looks like you've done your homework."
Cruise: "And you should too. Just knowing people who are on Ritalin isn't enough. You should be a little more responsible."

David Slaughter, The Church of Scientology Mission of Memphis trustee or mission holder, said in a story in the Memphis Daily News "A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights are the aims of Scientology," Slaughter said, reading from one of the religion's books. "We respect man and believe he is worthy of help, and we respect you and believe you are worthy of help. So that is what the purpose of the Mission is, to provide help to Memphis and the communities around it with the technologies of Scientology…"

Tom Cruise certainly believes that but it seems that Katie Holmes was never fully on board with the Church of Scientology. Is that the cause of the divorce? That’s the way it’s looking to many people. What do you think? Feel free to leave your comments below.
