Is Tom Brady texting some of his former teammates in hopes of having them return to the team? That's the rumor around town today and while some think it's ridiculous, others don't blame him... you know, if that's actually what he has been doing. On Sept. 22, CBS Local Boston reported that Brady (who may or may not be desperate for some receiving) denied texting Deion Branch and Brandon Lloyd.
A report surfaced about a week ago that the Patriots quarterback wanted to see if any of his old teammates might be available to re-sign with the team and help out since Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker are gone and Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola injured.
Tom Brady texting former Patriots players sounds like a made-up story -- doesn't the guy have better things to do? -- but the underlying meaning could mean more to Patriots fans than you might think. The team isn't playing great and while they have managed to go 3-0, it's clear that something is missing. Whether or not Brady feels like it's his job to fill the gaps is unknown but he says he isn't texting guys and it doesn't sound like he's desperate... yet.
It will be interesting to see what happens because the initial report claimed that Branch was "ready" to come back... and if he does, people might really believe that Brady was behind it.
If Tom Brady is texting his old friends looking for help, that wouldn't be such a bad thing any way -- especially if some of the greats returned to Foxboro.
