All the worry about Tom Brady playing in the second preseason game was all for naught. On Friday, August 16, the 36 year old quarterback dominated the first possession while driving the Patriots down the field for the score. Brady was 8-8 on the first drive and he threw a dart to the newcomer Danny Amendola. The pass play was 26 yards and Amendola was all smiles after the touchdown reception.
Brady was so successful that he trotted out for a second possession to complete three more passes before finally not connecting on 3rd and 7.
Not only are the Patriots taking a page out of coach Chip Kelly's Oregon tempo book, they even borrowed another play called from the new Philadelphia head coach. After the first score, New England's offense stayed on the field and went for two. They converted and the Pats were swiftly up 8-0.
If this is a sign to come, the AFC East better buckle up. The New England offense had Tampa Bay on a string, and they practiced together all week.
Once the second stringers got into the mix, Ryan Mallett displayed his golden arm by completing (12-20) passes for 137 yards and one touchdown.
Stay tuned for the second half when Tim Tebow gets to see some action. At the half, it's New England 18-10 over Tampa Bay. The final score was New England 25-21 over Tampa Bay.
