Comedian Tom Arnold is in the best shape of his life after losing 100 pounds during the past nine months.
The 6-foot-2 Arnold, who once tipped the scales at 287 pounds, slimmed down to 187 pounds by following a low-carb diet and doing cardio, circuit-training and abdominal workouts.
Tom, who gained weight due to depression-related emotional overeating, had an epiphany after his son Jax was born in April 2013. He realized he wanted to be around to see his son grow up, and immediately committed to a weight-loss regimen.
"Something inside of me changed," Arnold, 55, told People. "I knew I needed to live as long as I could. The moment I saw [Jax] I realized he deserves the best."
Tom, whose breakfasts once consisted of a six-egg omelet with cheese, six turkey sausage links and oatmeal, previously drank 15 diet sodas a day. His dinners used to be an extra-large meat pizza with bread sticks dipped in cheese.
Arnold admits he was embarrassed by his size. "There was a lot of shame," said Tom. "One time I had a tailor come over and sew the weights into my suits. This is what you wear when you are 210, 220, 240, 300. That saved me the time of going into my closet and getting so upset and frustrated."
After overcoming infertility struggles with his 38-year-old wife, Ashley, and welcoming a healthy baby, Tom is happier and healthier than ever.
The best part of his weight loss is having the energy to keep up with his only child. "I have tons more energy to play with my son," he gushed.
