Fresh out of college, the high-scoring left wing Mike Hedden joins the Toledo Walleye for their inaugural 2009-2010 season.

After coming up through the Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League, Hedden joined the Neumann College Knights for his rookie season in 2005-2006.  His impact was felt immediately, scoring 18 goals and 14 assists in 25 games to rank second on the team in points.  He was recognized by being named to the ECAC West All-Rookie Team.

Continuing on with the Knights, Hedden had his statistically-best year during his sophomore season, tallying 31 goals (19 on the power play) and 21 assists in just 26 games.  He led the team to the ECAC West Championship game, which however they lost in overtime to Manhattanville College.

Hedden's strong play extended to the 2007-2008 season, scoring 30 goals and 12 assists.  The team finished the season with a 17-9 record and reached the ECAC West Quarterfinal.

In his senior season, Hedden, who totaled 37 points, was key in the Knights' post-season run.  Not only did Neumann win the ECAC West Championship, they went on to win the Division-III National Championship for the first time in school history.

He left the team after the championship with numerous school records, including ranking first in goals, seconds in points and fourth in assists during his career.

Described as having "a tremendous nose for the net and incredible creativity" by Toledo coach Nick Vitucci, Hedden will surely be a great catch for the Walleye, bringing his high-scoring and special-teams skills to the team.
