Toledo Walleye player profile: Jonathan Trottier

One member of the inaugural 2009-2010 Toledo Walleye roster who will be starting the season on injured reserve is Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, native Jonathan Trottier.  Injuring his arm in a pre-season game, the left wing hopes to back in the lineup soon as the Walleye begin their first season this October.

Coming up through the Quebec Senior Central Hockey League, Trottier played two seasons with the Shawinigan Xtreme starting in 2004-2005.  Playing in 25 games during his first season, he recorded two goals and four assists, but it was his physical play that was notable as he tallied 127 penalty minutes.  Trottier was limited to just nine games the second season, but still managed to record 36 penalty minutes.

In 2006, Trottier moved on to the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey, playing for Trois Rivieres Caron and Guay.  He continued to add his physical grit, topping 145 penalty minutes each season.  Trottier also added 16 points, with nine goals and seven assists.

More recently, Trottier spent the 2008-2009 season in the CHL with the Corpus Christi Icerays.  He contributed just one assist, but saw plenty of action, tallying 80 minutes in the box in 18 games.

Trottier is described as a "warrior-type battler that will be a fan favorite here in Toledo" by head coach Nick Vitucci, who added "Trottier will bring plenty of speed and toughness to every shift that he plays."
