Named the most underrated player and best on face-offs in the CHL, Chris Robertson joins the Toledo Walleye roster as part of their inaugural 2009-2010 team. The 25-year-old center comes to Toledo from Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.
Beginning his professional career in the Ontario Hockey League, Robertson played three seasons with the Sudbury Wolves, tallying 17 goals and 38 assists. Moving on to the CHL in the 2004-2005 season, he spent a season each with the San Angelo Saints and the Corpus Christi Rayz before joining the New Mexico Scorpions.
Robertson saw his stats improve with the Scorpions, nearly doubling his point totals in his first year with the team. He helped the Scorpions win the CHL Southwestern Division Championship and reach the Southern Conference Championship series in 2007.
He continued to see success with the Scorpions over the next two years, including recording 75+ point in back-to-back seasons. His efforts were recognized in 2008 when he was named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month for February. Robertson left the Scorpions prior to the 2009-2010 season when the team announced it would suspend operations.
Toledo Walleye head coach Nick Vitucci described Robertson as a "great two-way center" who will be a "a leader both on and off the ice." Vitucci added that he has an "incredible work ethic and will bring energy to every shift."
