A 62 year old Toledo resident shot a burglar in self defense, after the burglar advanced on him despite two warnings to "freeze."
Police say that the homeowner was asleep at about 10:40 PM when an unexpected noise caused him to awaken and believe that a burglary was in progress. The homeowner then reportedly heard the sound of an intruder climbing the stairs towards, heading his bedroom. The armed homeowner ordered the burglar to freeze, but the footsteps up the stairs continued, police say. The homeowner is said to have held his fire, and again ordered the criminal to freeze, to no avail. Fearing for his safety, the homeowner reportedly fired in self defense, stopping the burglar. Police reportedly arrived to find the homeowner unharmed, and the burglar dead at the scene.
Once again, gun ownership has allowed a law abiding person to defend themselves against a criminal who broke in during the night. Had this 62 year old man not been armed, he could have been tortured, killed, or otherwise harmed by an intruder who cared more about making a quick buck than the life of their victim. Luckily, this man was armed, and as a result survived this home invasion unharmed. The city of Toledo also seems to owe this homeowner a debt of gratitude, since there is now one fewer home invading burglar on the streets.

wow.. the city owes this poor guy that has to live with the fact that he killed someone a THANK YOU? I will make a mental note never to move to Toledo.
Michelle: is your last name Obama, or are you just that misguided? Toledo, my home town and FORMER residence, has had a notoriously anti-firearm freedom government for decades. After "shall issue" concealed carry became state "general" law in 2004, the city administration enacted illegal local prohibitions regarding where lawfully licensed citizens could carry. I know, because I challenged them by having a "Pistol Packin' Picnic" in Ottawa Park on April 9, 2005. Although cited and WRONGLY CONVICTED, the state legislature reacted by enacting statewide prememption statutes preventing cities from doing this again. This man deserves recognition and support for being forced to defend himself, and having the guts to do what had to be done.
One less bad guy out on the streets...thank you sir.
I can honestly say I wouldn't loose a minute of sleep if I were the home owner. He was forced into a terrible situation by a criminal. The criminal is 100% responsible for his demise; end of story. Thank goodness we can defend our selves in this country.
