It has been said that music is the universal language; one need only look at the popularity of international bands like German band Tokio Hotel to see evidence of this. Coming in late October (10.22 & 23.10), according to PressAnzeiger.de, Tokio Hotel will one of more than 150 bands, DJs and musical artists to take part in the “Help Music Awards” under the motto of “Music Creates Bridges”.
**Author's note: Despite having information stating that Tokio Hotel was nominated for this award, an astute reader pointed out that they have not been nominated. Sorry about the confusion. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

The celebration will take place on the historic grounds of Berlin’s Templehof Airport. This will be the first event of its kind and will honor music for its ability to promote social engagement. Tokio Hotel has been involved in many charitable acts, including the latest—a book project with Designers Against AIDS. Beyond its charitable work, Tokio Hotel's influence has created awareness amongst fans for issues as diverse as foreign language study to animal rights and vegetarianism.
An Impressive Play List of Artists
Prominent artists like Silbermond, Ich + Ich, Samy Deluxe and Monrose, Tokio Hotel are nominated for the “Help Music Award 2010”. Anja Lukaseder and Ralph Siegel will be among the jurors who will decide which artists and projects will be recognized.
According to Julia Peter, Chairperson of the “Help Music Award 2010”
“The ‘Help Music Award 2010’ is a great and exciting thing for me. I’m pleased that we have found a partner in DooLoad, which supports good things and which is so engaged in creative activities. I’m really thankful for that.”
There's hope for musical artists who are not yet part of the line up--the Wildcard. Bands and artists of all persuasions are encouraged to take part in the celebration; their only requirements are that they’re ambitious and engaged enough to mobilize their fans to secure sufficient votes for the Wildcard. Winners will have the opportunity to perform next to acts like The Mint, Marusha, the Killerpilzen, Eisblume and many others.
The awards are a joint project with the Musikportal DooLoad.de. People can log on www.dooload.de to vote for their favorite Wildcard.
DooLoad.de plans on publishing a digital sampler of the benefit. The proceeds will go to charitable projects.
