It’s been awhile since Tokio Hotel University has been in session, so there’s plenty to get caught up on. If you haven’t done so, you may want to take a peak at the previous lessons to get a refresher in the German lessons so far. These lessons will give you all the info you need regarding the foundations I’ve built in the German language for you so far.

In the previous lesson, we got as far as the last line of the first verse. You may recall that at times the German version of the song took a deviation not only away from the way the members of Tokio Hotel wrote the English version of the song, but it also seemed to start to veer off into a love song. However, within the first verse, the song moved back into the original theme of growth and changed that Bill Kaulitz, Tokio Hotel’s lead singer, sang about in the English version.
German Version
Now that we’ve come to the second verse of the chorus, we can really see how different the German version of the song is from the English one. Here’s the lyrics to Lass uns laufen in German.
Oh
Lass uns laufen
bis die Nacht sich erhellt
und bis der letzte Regen
der Welt
über uns zerfällt
English Version
And a close to literal English translation of the lyrics to the chorus of Lass uns laufen.
Oh
Let us run
until the night lights up
and until the last rain
of the world
collapses around us
Beautiful and poetic as the English version as written, but very different. Here’s the English version of the song as Tokio Hotel wrote it.
Whoa, Whoa
The sun will shine like never before
One day I will be ready to go
See the world behind my wall
Go to part 7, to finish the lesson
