The power ballad. Some singers have made a career of it—think Sinead O’Connor and Nothing Compares 2 U. This Sunday, the German channel Viva.tv out of Cologne will run a six hour special (noon to six German time) on the 100 most beautiful and successful power ballads of all time.
Ballad fans have the opportunity to vote online. While some of Germany’s most popular musicians like Tokio Hotel, Xavier Naidoo and Rammstein are featured, so are the likes of artists like Sinead O’Connor, Avril Lavigne, Queen and Sting.
Viva.tv was originally a privately owned by VIVA Fernsehen GmbH until MTV Europe bought it in 2004. The station has maintained its German-language base.

I adore An Deiner Seite. It is one of my top favorite songs from Tokio Hotel, really powerful melody, especially because the band would perform it last in concerts, so it was sort of a soft goodbye, with a tremendous finish, so sweet. I dig it!
