The first toilet-themed restaurant opened over the weekend and it’s bizarre enough to sit on real toilets while you eat, but the menu’s constipated with items named after bodily functions. According to eCanada Now on Oct. 21, the Magic Rest Room Cafe opened in Los Angeles County restaurant serves their graphically named food offerings on miniature toilet bowls and urinals.
The toilet bowls line up next to the table for customers to plunk themselves down and do the opposite of what they are used to on this utilitarian object. Instead of using the toilet for an output, it is now a place to sit and consume food.
The toilets all have lids that open or close to give the customer the choice of sitting on the lid or on the seat. This visual is odd enough to take in, but if you were hungry when you arrived, you probably won’t be after you read the menu’s offerings.
“Golden poop rice,” or “bloody number two” dish are just two of the items on this menu. The “bloody number two” dish is “focused on a menstrual theme,” according to eCananda. No matter what way you look at this, that menu offering is disgusting! Yelp has given the restaurant a "3-star" rating for "slow or constipated" service, according to eCanada.
Could you imagine a restaurant with such graphic menu offerings doing well in Connecticut, or any part of New England for that matter? Chances are the menu alone would have folks up in arms. Right now the Magic Rest Room Cafe' is a novelty in the L.A. area.
It might be hard to imagine that people would consider this establishment a novelty in the country's heartland or along the Bible Belt of the country. For this reason it is hard to fathom a franchise of nationwide toilet-themed restaurants.
This is probably pushing the envelope in new wave dining experiences. Who would possibly find any of these menu selections appetizing? What do you think?
