Toddlers to tweens strut the runway at Kids Fashion Week in New York City

It was a small world at the Vogue Bambini/petiteParade Kids Fashion Week runway show over the weekend in New York City. Just like its grown-up version at Lincoln Center, industry insiders and celebs clamor for front row seats. Check out my slide show to see Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift and Lupita Nyong’o.

The invitation only event, which made its debut in 2010, is dedicated to showcasing fashion and products for toddlers to tweens.

And showcase they did! Adorable mini-models strutted, ran or danced down the runway wearing everything from onesies to metal dresses adorned with faux fur.

I caught up with luxury lifestyle designer, Bonnie Young who was presenting her Fall 2014 tween collection. “This year there is lots of metallic. It is a future romantic theme that is also edgy classic. My line is very chic like my style icon, Audrey Hepburn. And, of course, my daughter and her friends are always my main inspiration.”

Missing from her collection, embellishments, which had always been a big part of her designs. We are seeing more street classic, muted and neutral colors. And, lots of double-breasted mohair coats. Fans of her high-end, and even higher priced designs include Fatima Ptacek and Sir Elton John’s kids! With prices ranging from $500 to $10,000, make sure you size “way up” to allow for lots of growing room.

Other fab and fun designers who showcased their Fall 2014 collection during petiteParade Kids Fashion Week included Australian designer Mischka Aoki, Alivia Simone and CCandy: Kids MLB Sportswear by Amber Sabathia.
