Today’s Colorado ski and snow report: Upslope on the way

As the next storm system makes its way across Colorado from the extreme southwest this morning, it’s looking more and more like an upslope storm. In other words, the bulk of the snow will snake its way along the Continental Divide and east, spilling onto the plains.

Based on that, it appears the best chance for the most snow are in the southwest mountains – Purgatory, Silverton, Telluride and Wolf Creek up to Crested Butte – along the Continental Divide from A-Basin and Loveland up to Winter Park and over to Echo Mountain and Eldora.

Areas to the west of the Divide and north, north-central, like Summit County, will likely see less snow. So, because we’re optimists, we’re not revising the total snow forecast we made yesterday afternoon of 6”-12” by the time all is said and done Saturday morning. In other words, everyone should get some snow, but it will definitely favor some areas over others.

Make sure to check back early tomorrow morning to see how everyone fares today, then Saturday morning as the snow is forecast to continue to fall through Friday.
