Getting what was essentially seven days of snow in a row at Colorado’s ski areas was a needed windfall. We could certainly use a string of these lengthy storms to get us up to 100 percent snowpack, but this was a big step forward for the remainder of the season.
In yesterday’s Colorado Snow Report, we provided the latest terrain report, which we’ll update again tomorrow to give the resorts another day to sort it all out and open even more terrain.
Right now, about half of Colorado ski areas are 100 percent open, five more are more than 90 percent open and the rest are getting there. Winter Park edged that much closer with the opening of the Eagle Wind chairlift yesterday at Vasquez Cirque amongst all the new snow up there, bringing its total skiable acres up to 2,018.
It should be a great weekend, with lots of new snow, while the week ahead will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of snow somewhere on Wednesday. The next chance after that, and it’s a much better one, is next weekend. We’ll keep you updated as the week progresses.
In the meantime, here are the 24-hour and 48-hour totals with the seven-day totals in parentheses…
