Today’s Colorado ski and snow report: Memorial Day weekend preview

The weather has been quite unsettled in Colorado the past few days, which is a pattern that’s expected to continue all through Memorial Day weekend and into Memorial Day itself.

What that means is severe weather on the Front Range, especially in the afternoon, all weekend long. In the mountains it also means precipitation, including snow at the higher elevations. The forecast doesn’t call for much accumulation, if any, but we’ve had some surprise snow days at A-Basin in the past couple of weeks.

As a reminder, the top half of Aspen Mountain will open this weekend, starting tomorrow morning at 9 with about 130 acres expected to open. At Aspen, afternoon showers are possible, and temps will be in the 50s and 60s.

We’ll let you know if either Aspen or Arapahoe Basin picks up new snow each morning this weekend. In the meantime, here’s are the 24- and 48-hour snow totals…
