Today’s Colorado ski and snow report: mas snow on the way

See also

It will be hard to top this most recent snow storm that dumped a bunch of snow on the mountains and just tapered out yesterday. You’ll see some lingering snow in the report below, plus the remainder of this last storm refuses to completely die out around Vail Pass this morning.

More snow is on the way tonight through Friday. We expect a nice covering from it, especially in the northern and central mountains, though not at all like the previous storm.

Still, it appears that total accumulations could generally be about a foot by the time Saturday morning rolls around, but again that’s in the northern and central mountains, basically from Steamboat down to the I-70 corridor west to Beaver Creek.

If you look at the infrared satellite image that accompanies this report you can see why the southern mountains are likely to get less snow this time around, though you never know where portions of it will pool in certain areas, like it did at Monarch and Crested Butte last week.

We’ll find out more in the Colorado Ski and Snow Report over the next few days, so check back each morning for the latest. In the meantime, here are the 24-hour snow totals, such as they are…
