Today’s Colorado ski and snow report: Mad Max

Are you prepared for the post-apocalyptic horrors of I-70? It all started last night with closures along I-70 due to multiple accidents and heavy traffic. You should see more of that this morning, though it might be a little better since the snow has tapered off.

However, there’s a lot of wind with this system, so while snow may not be falling this morning it will certainly be blowing. Snow is forecast as “likely,” but mainly along the I-70 corridor with very little accumulation expected.

Snow is also likely Sunday night, but again it’s most likely only along the I-70 corridor. There’s a lot of moisture to our west, piping in from the Pacific, so there’s a good chance for snow beginning in the middle of next week.

It’s still a bit early to tell how much and where, exactly, but it appears to be tracking more north meaning more for the northern and central mountains and less for the southern mountains. We’ll keep an eye on it and let you know as it develops.

As per usual, Loveland Pass is closed this morning so you'll once again have to take the long way to A-Basin for its powder stash, which has been the top stash in the state over the past few days. Enjoy.

In the meantime, here are the 24-, 48- and 72-hour snow totals…
