No, those aren’t overnight totals in the report below, unfortunately. The numbers you see before the terrain report are the past week’s total accumulations.
Five Colorado ski areas added to their week’s total in the wee hours of the morning and the next system moves into the state: Beaver Creek, Powderhorn, Ski Granby Ranch, Sunlight and Steamboat. Each reported an inch of new snow this morning, excepting Powderhorn, which tallied two inches.
What that tells us is that this particular system, unlike the last, is starting in from the northwest corner of the state, which should logically favor the north central mountains and the I-70 corridor today and tonight.
We’re expecting some decent accumulations, perhaps 6-8 inches, in the north-central mountains. Of course we won’t know for sure until tomorrow morning’s snow report, so be sure to check back for that report.
Snow is also in the forecast for Thursday night and early next week. We hope this pattern continues to further build up those bases for spring skiing. Most of Colorado’s ski areas are 100 percent open, and the rest are very close.
