Today’s Colorado ski and snow report: Big night in the mountains

In the interest of getting the snow totals from yesterday and last night out as quickly as possible, there won’t be much of a preamble, and there will be a follow-up report shortly with five-day totals, terrain updates, a forecast and road conditions

Three highways are closed: Loveland Pass, Highway 550 between Ouray and Silverton (Red Mountain Pass), and Highway 285 from about Jefferson to almost Buena Vista. You won’t be able to use 285 from Bailey, Conifer and Evergreen to get down to Monarch Pass and access Monarch and Crested Butte. The alternate is 24 from Colorado Springs.

If you’re planning to ski today, I suggest you leave no later than now because travel is likely to be difficult and slow. We’ll keep you updated as much as possible. In the meantime, here are the totals…
