On this day in 1965 The Beatles play Rome, Italy.

On this day in 1967 the motion picture The Family Way (featuring music by Paul McCartney) premieres in New York City.

On this day in 1968 The Jefferson Airplane makes the cover of Life magazine under the headline: "Jefferson Airplane, Top Rock Group, With Music That's Hooked the Whole Vibrating World."

On this day in 1974 Paul McCartney’s sing “Band On The Run” hits number 3 in the UK.

On this day in 1975 the Eagles' One Of These Nights hits number one in the US. Also on this day David Bowie releases "Fame" which features John Lennon on backing vocals. (It will go on to become Bowie's first number one hit in the US.

On this day in 1984 Bruce Springsteen shoots his “Dancing In The Dark” music video in front of 200 extras at the St. Paul Civic Center. Courtney Cox plays the front row fan who gets to dance on stage with Springsteen (and the video becomes his first to get significant airplay on MTV).

On this day in 1990 Paul McCartney’s performs John Lennon-penned songs “Strawberry Fields Forever”, “Help!” and “Give Peace A Chance” for the first time during a concert in Liverpool, England.

On this day in 1993 punk rock singer-songwriter GG Allin dies at the age of 36.

On this day in 1997 George Harrison has an operation to remove a cancerous growth from his neck.

On this day in 2010 Bill Aucoin, Kiss’ band manager dies at the age of 66.
