America Recycles Day is celebrated on November 15th of each year with all types of events: educational seminars, recycling drop-off hours, rallies, parties, and more. Since 1997, America Recycles Day has been recognized as a way to draw attention to the continuing issues regarding waste management across the country. Though people should recycle every day, November 15 serves as a particular reminder that there is work yet to be done.
This year’s America Recycles Day also features a pledge which states:
For America Recycles Day 2011, I pledge to:
Learn. About the recycling options in my community. I will find out what materials are collected for recycling in my community at americarecyclesday.org.
Act. Reduce my personal waste by recycling. Within the next month, I will start to recycle one new type of material.
