The Ok Kids Korral will open on Thursday, November 21, 2013. The Ok Kids Korral will be located on the Oklahoma Health Center Campus in Oklahoma City, Ok. The center was established for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
The Toby Keith Foundation has been working on this project for ten years. The goal of the Ok Kids Korral is to "provide lodging and peace of mind to children battling cancer. To keep them together, focused on healing and not spending hours commuting or going out of state for treatment," as explained by Juliet Nees-Bright, the Executive Director of the facility.
The facility covers 25,000 sq. ft. of state of the art accommodations, 16 rooms, 12 overnight suites with sleeping capacities of five people and four daytime suites. A neutropenic wing is available for children with comprised immune systems, a gourmet kitchen, indoor playroom, outdoor playground, gameroom, theater room, laundry room, resource room and a reflection room.
The facility will allow families to stay together when a child is undergoing cancer treatments. There is no charge to the families for use of the facility.
