Going five-years strong, the JFly Music Festival has brought some of the finest musicians in the entertainment business to the small, south Georgia community of Waycross. And it's done for the community and guests thereof, with compliments of the city and a host of other sponsors.

Pebo Bryson, Alex Bugnon and more compliment the list of national and international talent make the three hour+ trek from Atlanta, to give their best performances to the very appreciative and supportive citizens of Waycross, home of Jorel Flynn, aka, drummer extraordinaire, JFly, founder of How Big Is Your Dream?, a non-profit organization committed to helping children find and reach their potential.

This year, Bobby Brown, Tony Terry, Howard Hewett, Cherrelle, Jeff Bradshaw, Chandra Currelley, Good Times Brass Band and more will perform, thanks to sponsors including the City of Waycross, MediaStream, McDonalds (Feys II Management), Coca-Cola, Flash Foods and Georgia Power.

A recent Q&A with artist JFly went like this...

Q. At five years in the game for the Waycross event, did you see yourself being here (as in the 5th year) when you started? And where does the event
go from here?

A. "No, I did not foresee the festival happening five years later. The festival thus far has made plenty of stride. From here, the goal is to expand it to various cities and extending the day from one to a two day festival."

Q. What has been the most challenging aspect of the entire process?

A. "A festival of this magnitude has never been done before in Waycross, which is an adjustment. Also keeping the festival free to the public given the lineup of international renowned acts has been a challenge."

Q. What would you say is the greatest reward from the experience of
creating the event?

A. "The exposure for the citizens and children in Waycross and surrounding areas; along with people being inspired to experience this annual event. What is also rewarding is citizens from Atlanta and city officials of the area that will be traveling to Waycross to witness this year's festivals such as, Dr. Joyce Morely--Board of DeKalb County School System, David Manuel--Director of Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center and Curtis Winston--Director of South DeKalb YMCA."

Q. Have you met many people in Waycross who share experiences of what the concert means to them? If so, please share an experience or two?

A. "Yes, I receive personal Facebook messages from fans/citizens in Waycross and surrounding areas explaining how proud they are of my humanitarian efforts for the community that they deem to be revolutionary given it has never been done prior."

Q. Anything you'd like to add?

A. "It's important to acknowledge the 50th year anniversary of the historic MLK "I have a Dream" speech 1963, in parallel to the 5th year of HBIYD?! The "dream" has definitely been realized due to the groundbreaking sacrifices and achievement of the civil rights movement; and how a young boy (like myself) from Waycross is now living out his dreams by providing an exceptional opportunities for the community. I am grateful for Dr. King and how much his speech has mean to me! Although, I never knew that I would be where I am today; however, I am thankful that I have stayed true to my dream and continuing my path through faith."
