Nearly half a century after Star Trek debuted on TV, and nearly a decade after the final episode of the last TV series (Star Trek: Enterprise) aired, it now appears that there is a brand new Star Trek TV Series in our immediate future. Star Trek Equinox: The Night of Time, is apparently in pre-production with a casting list that is every bit as exciting as the mere whispers of Trek’s return to the airwaves itself. It has been leaked to this writer that John Savage (as Captain Rudy Ransom) and Gary Lockwood (as Fleet Captain Gary Mitchell) will be appearing in the series, each reprising their previously-established Star Trek characters.
According to our sources the show (which is set to debut in 2014) will take place some 15 years after the destruction of the USS Equinox (approximate star date 2393) Captain Ransom, who was beamed from his doomed ship by the Krowtonan Guard, has been held prisoner in the Delta quadrant for crimes against the race including trespassing in Krowtownan space and the deaths of Krowtown Crew members. Now, Captain Ransom has very few choices but one chance to return to the Alpha Quadrant some 30.000 light years away.
The show (which is listed as being “in production” on IMDB), is being packaged as a made-for-TV movie, with the potential for it to spin off into an on-going TV series. While specific information about the production itself is very hush, hush it is known that other announced cast members include Blanca Blanco, Tom DeNucci, Matthew Kaye, Eric Moran, Eric Nyenhuis, and Mark Oconnell. The show is written by Camren T. Burton, and has as its executive producer, David Gere who is a producer for Woodhaven Productions. Gere has produced a number of Indy films, including Self Storage, Army of the Damned, and Sensory Perception.
