To attend the 2013 UUA General Assembly on a budget, start planning now

Many Unitarian Universalists would love to attend the 2013 General Assembly, the annual meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), but see no way to pay for the costs of registration, lodging, and travel.

The General Assembly (GA) Office and Planning Committee are committed to making GA accessible to as many people as possible. Here are some options for financial assistance:

  • A Camp Director and two volunteers are needed for the GA Covenant Children's Camp. In exchange for designing and implementing the camp curriculum, and recruiting and supervising volunteers, the Camp Director will receive six nights of housing, GA registration, and a $750 honorarium. GA registration will also be available for up to two volunteers. The application deadline is February 15. More information is available here.
  • Adult and youth (grades 912) volunteers are also needed for decorations, accessibility services, cyber cafe assistance, greeting, ushers, recycling, information desk, and other services, in exchange for the cost of GA registration. A volunteer application will be posted here on March 1. The deadline to apply is March 31.
  • Scholarship applications will be available here on March 1. The deadline to apply is March 31.

The GA Office is also looking into home hospitality and other low-cost housing options. Registration for home hospitality will be available on March 31.

The UUA-GA email list is a good resource for ride sharing, finding roommates, and other GA-related information.

The 2013 General Assembly will be held July 19–23 in Louisville, Kentucky.
