TNA Impact Wrestling pre-taped two more shows during their U.K. tour, these in London on Jan. 26. On the shows, Hulk Hogan set up a tournament to determine the No. 1 contender to the world championship for Lockdown. Here is how the tournament went down and who won the title shot.
Hogan kicked things off on the first Impact taping, when he announced the four matches that he would choose the winner from. These four matches were Christopher Daniels vs. Magnus, Bobby Roode vs. Austin Aries, Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe, and James Storm vs. Rob Van Dam.
Hogan would choose the No. 1 contender based on who he thought put in the best effort to win. Sting came out and said that he would also choose three of the men to team with him at Lockdown against Aces & Eights.
Magnus and James Storm won their matches. Aries and Roode went to a double count out when Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez interfered. Angle and Joe went to a no contest when Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff interfered.
Before Hogan could name the winner, Aces & Eights attacked, bringing out Bully Ray to save him. On the next tapings, Hogan named Bully Ray the winner, in a strange move since he was not even involved. Bully Ray will fight Jeff Hardy in the cage at Lockdown for the world title.
Angle said he will fight Wes Brisco at Lockdown for revenge. With Aries and Roode probably defending their tag team titles against Chavo and Hernandez, it looks like Sting's partners will be James Storm and Samoa Joe in the six-man at Lockdown.
