TNA Impact Wrestling airs tonight in a show that was taped last weekend from Manchester in the U.K. While that means the matches are already spoiled for fans online, TNA President Dixie Carter has promised a special announcement for tonight's show. According to PWInsider.com on Jan. 30, that announcement will be TNA going on the road in 2013.
TNA has almost exclusively taped their shows from Universal Studios in Florida, a cost-cutting move that still made the promotion look second rate. When the WWE travels around the country, and each week's "WWE Monday Night Raw" takes place in a new city, it seems miles above TNA broadcasting every week from the Impact Zone.
TNA has plans that will mean that only every other episode of "Impact" is live, while the second is pre-taped. This is not unusual either. The WWE broadcasts "WWE Monday Night Raw" live every Monday and then tapes their "WWE Smackdown" show on Tuesday nights to air on Friday.
Even during the classic Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW, while WCW was live every week, WWE would have one live show and then tape the next week's show the next night. That is the exact model that TNA plans to implement and that announcement is coming tonight.
The first tapings will be on March 14 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. TNA will not completely leave the Impact Zone, and they will still occasionally tape there as well.
"TNA Impact Wrestling" airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EST on Spike TV.
