TNA Wrestling shakes up Creative Team : Vince Russo out, Dave Lagana promoted

Big news coming out TNA IMPACT Wrestling today as their widespread reports that Vince Russo is no longer a part of the Creative Team which writes and directs the weekly storylines of the wrestling company. Russo was removed from his position as the head of Creative last year, and was replaced by former WWE official Bruce Prichard as lead writer on the SPIKE TV series, IMPACT Wrestling. Prichard will remain the Seinor Vice President of Programming and Talent Relations for TNA.

Lagana is a former WWE and Ring of Honor producer/writer who joined TNA Wrestling last year and was heavily invovlved with the spin off promotion in India, Ring Ka King. Before joining TNA, Lagana started the influential #Iwantwrestling tag through his Twitter and wrestling blog, iwantwrestling.com where he shared insights on changing the Pro Wrestling bussiness for the better.

Russo who has been a lightning rod of controvsey throughout his career in Pro Wrestling, ends his second stint as the lead writer for TNA. Russo was a part of WWE during the 'Attitude Era' before jumping ship to rival WCW during the 'Monday Night Wars'. Russo's run in WCW included quesitonable creative moves with some storylines being called some of the worst in televised Pro Wrestling history. In the tell-all book "Death of WCW" authors R.D. Reynolds and Bryan Alvarez heavily criticized Russo's tenure with the 'book' in World Championship Wrestling as a contributing factor to the company's downfall. Russo has also been considered a pariah among TNA Wrestling fans for years, who attiribute the company's inconsistency to him.

Lagana will not work towards making TNA a viable competitor for WWE in the wrestling world. It has been a broken record perspective among Wrestling fans and observers, that the only thing that TNA lacks is a cohesive and effective creative direction to compete with their rival. It appears that Lagan is getting an opportunity to make that a reality.

Ring of Honor Executive Producer Jim Cornette has long ran Russo's name throught the mud in interviews, after the two worked together in TNA Wrestling. Cornette who has always been outspoken of modern Pro Wrestling producer, stated in a Youshoot DVD that he has a "burning hatred" for Russo. Watch a 14 minute clip where Cornette gives a detailed diatribe on Russo and TNA Wrestling in the video posted on the left.
