TNA Impact Wrestling has been making some controversial releases lately, but their most controversial came when they released Jesse Sorensen today. According to prowrestling.com on July 23, TNA released Jesse Sorensen as a budget cut.
The big problem here is that Jesse Sorensen broke his neck and suffered a spinal cord injury in a match against Zema Ion in February 2012. Sorensen ended up paralyzed and doctors predicted it could take up to a year for recovery and he might never wrestle again.
TNA did the right thing and kept Sorensen on staff while he recovered, working as a production assistant. In July 2012, he showed up at Destination X, where he said he planned to win the X-Division title when he returned. In May 2013, Sorensen said there would not be a comeback but a "new beginning."
Now, that new beginning won't happen in TNA, because the company released him in their recent budget cuts. Sorensen joins names like Matt Morgan and Tara, as well as backstage workers like D-Lo Brown and Bruce Pritchard.
Eric Bischoff released a tweet that said he had "Nothing but respect and support for Jesse Sorensen." He also told Jesse to "stay strong, never lose your determination, and success will find you."
Now, word comes that Jesse Sorensen was released because he made more than a normal production assistant should receive. It was also said to be a sign that TNA Wrestling will release anyone at anytime, no matter what you have done for the company.
