TNA Wrestling parts ways with Vince Russo

Vince Russo has parted ways with TNA Wrestling.

TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter made the announcement official today, February 14, on her personal Twitter account.

She wrote, “TNA and Vince Russo have mutually parted ways as of this week. The separation is amicable and professional. We are glad for the opportunity to have worked together and wish each other nothing but good luck and success in the future.”

Rumors had swirled all weekend that there was change-up in TNA’s creative team as Russo was not present at Sunday night’s Against All Odds pay per view or Monday night’s Impact Wrestling television tapings.  However this is the first public announcement of Russo’s departure.

According to PWTorch, Dave Lagana was backstage at the pay per view and television tapings helping with pre-tape segments and production, but no official announcement has been made whether he will replace Russo, or if he will fit into TNA’s creative team at all.

In another article from PWTorch, it was indicated that Eric Bischoff may also gain more power creatively with Russo out of the picture.  The two have had philosophical working differences since their time together in World Championship Wrestling in 2000.

Russo was removed as the head of TNA’s creative team back in October 2011.  He was replaced by Bruce Pritchard, but remained on the team as a senior writer.  He was TNA’s creative head from 2002 – 2004.  He returned to the company in 2006 and had been in the position ever since.
