On the Dec. 26 episode of TNA Impact Wrestling, former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy took part in the main event on the show, and after the event, he said he was leaving TNA. According to prowrestling.com on Dec. 27, this is just an angle the company is working and Hardy is not leaving TNA Impact Wrestling.
Recently in TNA Impact Wrestling, events like this have been actual departures recently. When Hulk Hogan quit and walked out on TNA Impact Wrestling live on television, it was actually Hogan quitting the company. The angle where he quit was a work, but it was done to explain him leaving the company.
The same thing happened with AJ Styles. His contract expired, so when he left the company through an on-television angle, it was also for real and he is no longer under contract with TNA Impact Wrestling. It should be noted that Styles and TNA are still in negotiations and it looks like he could re-sign and return.
Regardless, the angle where he quit was based on him really quitting. That makes Jeff Hardy's angle last night an event that blurs the line between fiction and reality. The fact of the situation is that Hardy's previous legal problems means he can't leave the country, and with TNA Impact Wrestling about to start a tour of the UK, this will explain his absence from television.
Jeff Hardy should return to TNA Impact Wrestling in 2014 when they return to Florida for their television tapings.
