Dixie Carter announced during the Bellator MMA show last night that TNA Impact Wrestling had signed Jeff Hardy to a long-term deal. Rajah.com reported on Feb. 8 that the new deal is a two-year extension that will keep Hardy in TNA until 2015.
Hardy's contract was scheduled to end later this month, making people wonder if he was heading back to the WWE. Matt Hardy had already hinted that fans could expect a Hardy Boyz reunion in the WWE in 2013, but that is out the window now. Hardy did not lose his belt at the last pay per view, and all of February's television shows come from Europe, where Hardy could not travel.
This means if his contract did come to an end, and he did not sign a new deal with TNA, the company would be in a sticky situation when it came to their world title. The best bet would be to strip him of the belt for going a month without defending his title, but that still would have been a very unprofessional maneuver since they knew he was running out of time.
Luckily, TNA does not have to worry about Jeff Hardy bolting to the WWE with their world title and now have their champion locked up for at least two more years.
