A lot of talk has surrounded the fact that AJ Styles' contract with TNA Wrestling expires in September and the two sides have not come to an agreement. According to PWInsider on Aug. 30, Styles and TNA Wrestling have agreed on a short term extension to give them more time to work out a new deal.
This news came after AJ Styles cut an electric promo on last night's live "TNA Impact Wrestling" show. In the promo, Styles told the fans that he has been around since the company started and has always been there to carry it on his shoulders when plans went wrong. He said every time TNA decided to go in a new direction, or test a new superstar, he was the one there to pick up the pieces when it failed.
He then said he could still be that man and planned to prove it after he wins the TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory.
This new short term deal will keep AJ Styles with TNA Wrestling until a little after the Bound for Glory PPV event. The two sides now have until then to figure out the numbers, because this is all coming down to the money.
In the last few months, TNA Wrestling has cut names like Matt Morgan, Tara and Devon Dudley from their ranks, all to cut costs. The latest TNA Wrestling rumors indicate that the company has followed Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, and met all their requests, and as a result, they are actually losing money and are tightening their belts.
AJ Styles has been around since the company started over 10 years ago. Now, the two sides have to figure out if the money to keep him in TNA Wrestling is worth the loyalty of Styles and his fans.
