In some scary TNA Wrestling rumors, it appears that AJ Styles’ contract with the company will expire in September and neither side has come close to renewing hit yet. According to PWS on Aug. 22, Styles even sent out a Facebook message to his fans asking where he should wrestle next.
In the Facebook message, Styles listed the possibilities of TNA, WWE, ROH and Japan. It also said there were lots of choices and some tough decisions.
While the WWE has been more accepting of former indie stars, and names like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have excelled since heading to the company, other names like Antonio Cesaro seem to be stagnating there. He would also end up in the developmental territories for months as they have him learn the “WWE style” of wrestling.
Heading to Ring of Honor would be a huge step down, and would be a giant cut in pay too. Plus, one look at Jay Lethal shows that TNA status does not always account for ROH success, even if the wrestler started out in Ring of Honor, as both Lethal and Styles did.
Japan is an interesting choice as well, but unless TNA is completely low balling Styles in contract offers, he would make more there than anywhere outside of the WWE. AJ Styles is in for a big push, starting on TNA Impact Wrestling tonight, and TNA has been known to wait till the last minute to re-sign a wrestler, such as they did with Bobby Roode, so things could change quickly.
“TNA Impact Wrestling” airs tonight at 9 p.m. EST on Spike TV.
