Tonight on 'TNA IMPACT Wrestling', A.J. Styles defeated Magnus to win the Bound For Glory series tournament, and earn a main event title shot at TNA World Champion Bully Ray at the Bound For Glory pay per view in October. This big win comes after Styles went on a hiatus after last year's BFG where his in-ring lost meant he could not compete for the TNA World title for one year. Since then Styles returned with a darker character, but in the last month returned to his flashy 'Phenominal One' in-ring style.
In the semi-final matches in the tournament earlier in the night, Magnus bested Bobby Roode while Styles overcame Austin Aries to set up the tournament final. After winning the BFG series, Styles claimed that on next week's IMPACT that he will have words with TNA President Dixie Carter.
Pro Wrestling Examiner Perspective: Styles whose long been considered the franchise player for TNA Wrestling, is once again in the main event on the company's biggest annual pay per view event. Everything should be right in the world of TNA when you hear that feel-good news but the company is suffering behind-the-scenes right now with reported financial issues and needs this show to be a successful one. Styles vs. Ray on top of the BFG card is a smart choice, now let's just hope the road to the match is exciting.
