Current TNA superstar Hulk Hogan recently took a shot at his former WWF and WCW fellow star Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Hogan feels that Hart was in the wrong for the "Montreal Screwjob" incident where Bret refused to "put over" Shawn Michaels in Canada. Hogan believes that Hart should have done the "job" and declared that he never would have acted like Bret. According to a Friday February 3rd report by TheSUN.co.uk, Hogan made the following comments:
""How come you can't do a job in Canada? So I can't do a job in Florida? Vince asks Bret to drop the belt but he won't do it? It's Vince's business. I don't understand him not putting Shawn over. It's fake wrestling! It's acting! If it was a competitive sport, Andre the Giant would probably never have been beat and Kurt Angle would probably be the champion now. It sure wouldn't be Bret Hart or Hulk Hogan."
Andre The Giant definitely would have not lost nearly 40 times to The Ultimate Warrior during the Warrior's rise to the top. Additionally, wrestlers like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar would probably have never lost in today's landscape if pro-wrestling was a competitive sport.
4-way world title match at TNA's PPV, Who deserves the belt: Hardy or Bully Ray
However, Hogan's comments toward Bret are a bit hypocritical. Hogan developed a serious reputation for never putting anyone over except his closest friends. Even when Randy Savage became WWF champion during the height of HulkaMania, it wasn't because Hogan put him over. In fact, Savage never beat Hogan for the belt.
Ask former WWF stars Jake The Snake Roberts, Honky Tonk Man, The Warrior, Paul Orndorff and others about Hogan's refusal to "put over" others. Hogan never did the "job" to anyone except The Ultimate Warrior. Bret can be credited for helping more wrestlers "get over" than Hogan ever has. See the early days of Stone Cold Steve Austin as a perfect example. For more on The Sun's report, click here.
