While the Carter family still denies that TNA Impact Wrestling is up for sale, there are still rumors of people who are looking at buying it. According to PWInsider on Nov. 3, one of those names is Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan.
While this seems strange, Corgan actually ran his own professional wrestling organization called Resistance Pro Wrestling in Chicago and has been a wrestling fan all his life. The rumors also state that he has a wealthy backer, but who that might be and what they would be willing to pay is unknown.
The news about Corgan’s involvement has been rumored for a few weeks now, but this time former WWE front office worker Lou D’Angeli, who is a friend of Corgan, has said that Corgan is looking at buying TNA Wrestling and at least wants to be a partial owner.
D’Angeli also said that Corgan has visited Tennessee over the last week, speaking to the Carter family and TNA officials about the possibility of buying the company. He is an interesting prospect, but is not the best name rumored, as Jeff Jarrett is still the name most likely to succeed if he buys back his company.
