Over the last few weeks, Robert Roode has been absent from Impact Wrestling due to contractual difficulties with TNA. Roode's contract expired while being one half of the tag-team champions. Apparently, there were some difficulties in the negotiations and Roode's status for the LockDown PPV was in jeopardy. However, according to a March 10 report by PWInsider.com, Roode and TNA were able to reach an agreement prior to Sunday's PPV.
As of now, there are no further details about Roode's contract. TNA fans are hoping that the company signed Roode to a long-term deal that will keep the longest reigning world champion with the company for the next several years. Roode has been an important member of the roster since TNA's inception.
At the LockDown PPV, Roode and tag-team partner Austin Aries successfully defended their tag-team titles in a triple threat match as they defeated the teams of Guerrero & Hernandez and Bad Influence. The ending came when Roode tagged Chavo's boot as he was going up to the top rope for a frog splash. Guerrero successfully completed the move and Roode snuck in to pin Christopher Daniels for the victory.
