Tonight, Thursday, September 12, was the ninth annual No Surrender event, presented by TNA Wrestling. However unlike the previous eight No Surrender events, this show was not held on pay per view. Rather tonight’s live show was broadcast during the usual two-hour Impact Wrestling timeslot. The event was held in the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. Because the show was treated like a pay per view event (like July’s Destination X and August’s Hardcore Justice) here are the results from tonight’s live show.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion (and President of Aces of 8s) Bully Ray and Brooke Tessmacher came out to open the show. Bully Ray called out TNA General Manager Hulk Hogan and complained about facing Vice President of Aces & 8s Mr. Anderson in a World Title bout tonight. Anderson then came out and sucker punched The Bully in jaw and then hit his namesake catchphrase. Hogan then made their match a Last Man Standing Match.
AJ Styles pinned Austin Aries in a semi-final match in the Bound For Glory Series. He pinned Aries after a Styles Clash off the second rope. Styles now advances to the finals of the 2013 Bound For Glory Series.
Backstage, Sting gave Magnus a pep talk about his upcoming Bound For Glory Series match and reminded everyone that The Main Event Mafia made an exception by letting Magnus into the group.
Magnus pinned Bobby Roode in a semi-final match in the Bound For Glory Series. He reversed Roode’s fisherman’s suplex attempt into a victory roll for the pin. Magnus now advances to the finals of the 2013 Bound For Glory Series.
After the break, Roode threw a tantrum until Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) calmed him down and hinted that they would run the BFG Series finale.
They then cut to Hulk Hogan talking to TNA X-Division Champion TJ Perkins (in his Manik gear, unmasked). They agreed that when he puts the mask on he becomes a different wrestler, and Manik asked for a bout against Jeff Hardy. TNA President Dixie Carter interrupted the conversation and kicked Manik out of the room to talk to Hogan in private. She said that Bellator has pulled Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz from TNA Wrestling until their pay per view fight in November has happened.
In another part of the arena, Bully Ray talked to the other remaining members of Aces & 8s (Knux, Wes Brisco & Garett Bischoff) about his upcoming bout with Vice President Anderson.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray beat Mr. Anderson in a Last Man Standing Match. During the match Anderson suffered a low blow from Brooke Tessmacher, a triple powerbomb from Knux, Brisco & Bischoff, chain shots from The Bully and was finally ended after a spear from Bully through a table in the corner of the ring. Anderson left the ring on a stretcher and in a neck brace, but Bully attacked him again. Bully took him off the stretcher, took of his “cut” and dropped him with a piledriver on the ring entrance stage.
Somewhere other than the arena, ODB talked about her TNA Knockouts Title match with Mickie James next week on Impact Wrestling.
TNA World Tag Team Champions James Storm & Gunner were in the ring and called out other tag teams like Bro-Mans (Robbie E & Jesse Godderz), Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) and Aces & 8s. Former TNA World Tag Team Champions Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez interrupted them and challenged them to a fight. A match was made for next week between the two teams. If Guerrero and Hernandez win that bout they get a future Tag Title match.
AJ Styles pinned Magnus in the finals of the Bound For Glory Series. Styles pinned Magnus after hitting the rare Spiral Tap. Post-match, Styles cut a promo about his victory and called out TNA President Dixie Carter for next week. Earlier in the match EGO (Roode, Daniels & Kazarian) interrupted the match and attacked both men, but the referee restarted the match.
